No superhero takes up their capes and cowls overnight. Some train for hundreds of hours, traversing their long paths to peace and justice through diligence and a keen sense of what is right. With our Superhero Training Course, today’s children will have the opportunity to hone their skills alongside Captain Encouragement and step into their roles as the world’s next generation of heroes.
The Captain Encouragement program teaches children how to fight violence with nonviolence, to be compassionate members of their community, and to value their own dreams and goals. We do this through an interactive “Super Hero Training Program” where children learn to recognize and express their emotions in a productive and healthy way. The Captain Encouragement program is designed for children ages 4-9.
They have a blast, playing and talking with the Captain as he leads them through the Superhero Training Course. They will test their reflexes with our Response Drill while learning the values of heroism escorting victim dummies across our street simulator and saving them from the perils of our Citizen Rescue Drill.
Our primary goals are to decrease the amount of bullying among children, to decrease the national youth suicide rate, and to help kids believe that they matter in this world. Captain Encouragement has already begun making a name for himself as a community superhero. Everyone can see he’s making it “cool to be kind”!
We show them the value of understanding and non-violence while showing them that the most important superpowers like compassion and positive reinforcement have always been theirs to use, and always will be.
We have already begun to address this by reshaping the mindsets of youth in various communities. Children recognize Captain Encouragement when he makes his appearance in town, and they remember their training. When we teach kids to respond to negative input without using bully behavior, they learn the fundamentals of nonviolence, promoting healthy relationships with themselves and others. Children who can recognize emotions and communicate their feelings with kindness at a young age are more likely to be happy throughout their lives.
That’s what this is all about.
